National Distance Championship Tips for Trifecta
Punters should have five runners on their ticket for the National Distance Championship trifecta. We recommend taking a boxed percentage trifecta. Spend what you want, and the payouts can be massive.
- Aunt Virginia
- Valpolicella
- Zinfandel Trace
- West on Boonie
- Raider’s Guide

National Distance Championship First-Four Tips

- West on Boonie
- Raider’s Guide
- Fahey’s Magic

National Distance Championship Form Guide & Tips
(1) Zipping Neutron ($15.00)
He’s a smart type at his best, but he was a little fortunate to make it into the final.
He might be past his best, and although we respect his 38 wins, including 18 at the track and distance, we’re not backing him to win.
(2) West on Boonie ($5.50)
Looking for three consecutive wins is West on Boonie, who owns 18 wins from 42 starts overall.
He scored narrowly in the semifinals at Nowra, and there has been plenty of betting support throughout the week.
We’re happy to include him in first four picks.
(3) Fahey’s Magic ($9.00)
A lack of winning recent form shouldn’t deter punters too much, and she wasn’t beaten too far in the qualifier.
However, the three-year-old might need some luck in running to beat this level of opposition, despite having 21 wins on her record.
Any positive betting moves on race night will be telling.
(4) Aunt Virginia (Best Bet – $3.50)
Aunt Virginia is a rising star of distance racing following a gutsy win over Drill Sargeant last time out.
The 19-time winner from 30 starts has yet to race at Angle Park, and she has drawn poorly, but she will settle back and wind up late.
We’re not surprised by the odds.
(5) Zinfandel Trace (Best Roughie – $13.00)
Seeking four consecutive wins is Zinfandel Trace, who won her only start over the distance.
With seven wins from 10 starts, she is one to watch, despite being one a year-old daughter of Barcia Bale.
She’s the local hope and we’re happy with the odds.
(6) Valpolicella (Best Each Way – $4.00)
Class is on the side of Valpolicella, who is the only $1 million earner in the race.
The three-year-old daughter of Shima Shine owns 32 wins and 19 placings from 59 starts, and she paid $1.15 when winning last start.
Punters get better each-way odds this time around.
(7) Ritza Pepper ($6.50)
Having posted three wins from her last four starts, Ritza Pepper is in career-best form. However, it might not be enough.
She will jump and run from an outside trap, but we think she will be run over in the final 100m.
(8) Raider’s Guide ($5.00)
Raider’s Guide is the poster boy of Tasmanian racing, having posted 33 wins from 61 starts.
He is a star greyhound, and there has been good betting support. He’s good enough to include in our selections at the price.
(9) Just Alfie ($71.00)
He opened at $201.00 before shortening, but we can’t see him being good enough to go close.
(10) Dishonest ($71.00)
Yet to fire at the track and distance, and she’s unlikely to make the field.
