PGA Championship Best Bet – Rory McIlroy

It hasn’t been easy for punters to follow Rory McIlroy recently, but we’re giving the Northern Irishman o one more chance.

He missed the cut at the Masters and at the Players Championship, so he needs to turn around some disappointing form, especially for a golfer of his quality.

Having not won a major since 2014 is playing on the mind of McIlroy, but he has a chance to silence the critics with a big performance at Oak Hill, and betting markets are giving him the respect he deserves.

McIlroy is on the third line of betting at $13, which is a fair price. He would have been paying around $8 to win a couple of years ago, and he has many more wins to come.

PGA Championship Best Value – Xander Schauffele

Xander Schauffele has won plenty of tournaments throughout his career, but he has yet to win a major tournament.

He finished second at the 2018 Open Championship and 2019 Masters, so he has been close, and he comes off another second-place finish at the Wells Fargo Championship.

It’s a concerning statistic to how many times he finishes close without winning, but much like McIlroy, he’s overdue a major win.

The 29-year-old American is far too good to go without a major, and Oak Hill plays right to his strengths.

Include Schauffele in your selections at $17.

PGA Championship Long Shot – Viktor Hovland

Viktor Hovland isn’t exactly a ‘long shot’ but he’s well worth having on your PGA Championship ticket.

The Norwegian didn’t play well on Sunday at the Wells Fargo Championship when shooting +6, but he could turn that performance around.

We have been critical of Hovland in the past. His PGA Tour wins have come in tournaments where the best players in the world were elsewhere, but take nothing away from the youngster.

He has come close to winning majors, including a T7 at the Masters and a T4 at the Open Championship, so he’s worth backing.

Punters get $29 for Hovland, which is a good price.

PGA Championship Top 20 – Si-Woo Kim

Si-Woo Kim comes off a second-place finish behind Australia’s Jason Day at the AT&T Byron Nelson last week, so he’s playing well.

The former Players Championship winner knows what it takes to win on the big stage, so we think he’s back to his best, which is a dangerous proposition.

The South Korean won the Sony Open in Hawaii earlier this year, so winning comes naturally to him, and we think he’s criminally underrated.

Punters get $4 for Kim to finish in the top 20 at Oak Hill, so we can’t turn down those odds.

PGA Championship Top Australian – Adam Scott

Jason Day might be coming off a PGA Tour win, but we’re picking Adam Scott to be the top Australian at the 2023 PGA Championship.

He has been playing good golf recently, and his putting form is returning, so he should be right in the mix for the win this week.

Scott is a former major winner, so he knows what it takes. That experience should take him close on a tough course.

$5.50 for Scott is great shopping.

PGA Championship Best LIV Player – Dustin Johnson

Dustin Johnson held off Branden Grace and Australia’s Cameron Smith to win LIV Tulsa last week, so he’s in fine form.

The former world number one is a $23 chance to win the PGA Championship, and we’re not leaving him out of our selections.

We already saw what the LIV players did at the Masters, when Brooks Koepka went close to winning, so they’re dangerous.

We expect the American to be contesting throughout.
