Nuno Espirito Santo was the first managerial casualty of the campaign, with Nottingham Forest turning to Ange Postecoglou, as they embark on European football this season.
On the pitch, it is all about Liverpool, who overcame Burnley in the dying embers last time out to assure their 100% record and to take another step towards their next Premier League title.
Arsenal look best placed to challenge in behind them, with their pricey squad coming together nicely, while Manchester City picked up local bragging rights last time out with a win over Manchester United.
Down at the bottom of the pile, Wolves and Aston Villa are the two sides without a win so far this term and it should be another enthralling weekend of EPL action.
Here are our Premier League tips for the next round of fixtures:
EPL Week 5 Predictions
—
Liverpool ($1.40)
Everton ($7.00)
Draw ($4.75)
There is a buoyancy surrounding both Liverpool and Everton, as they prepare to lock horns in the Merseyside derby. Liverpool have won all 4 of their opening games and look to be strolling towards yet another Premier League title, following their bumper summer spend. Everton meanwhile are going well under David Moyes, unbeaten in their last 3 games and how they would love to rattle into Liverpool in this one. This should be a very good game, with plenty on the line and Liverpool should get the job done.
Liverpool to win 2-0
—
Burnley ($3.40)
Nottingham Forest ($2.20)
Draw ($3.50)
Last gasp defeats have cost Burnley against both Liverpool and Manchester United and they will want to avenge those results here. The Clarets are a side that are well drilled and under Scott Parker, which could cause problems for this Nottingham Forest side. With plenty of uncertainty around the club, the Tricky Trees look vulnerable, and Ange Postecoglou looks to have a big job on his hands here. This will be tight, and Burnley’s shape could prove to be too much for Forest.
Burnley to win 2-1
—
West Ham United ($3.05)
Crystal Palace ($2.45)
Draw ($3.50)
Two sides that are feeling their way into the new campaign meet here, as West Ham host Crystal Palace. The Hammers were thumped 3-0 by Tottenham last weekend and they will be eager to bounce back quickly in this one. Crystal Palace meanwhile were held at home by Sunderland and look to be lacking some creative flair in the early stages of this season. Not losing will be the priority for both teams and this could end up as a draw.
1-1 Draw
—
Wolves ($2.70)
Leeds United ($2.80)
Draw ($3.25)
Another pair of sides in need of a result meet here, as Wolves host Leeds United at Molyneux. Four defeats on the spin have Wolves languishing at the foot of the table but they haven’t been as bad as their results suggest and they will be raring to go here. Leeds United meanwhile have lost both of their games on the road already this term and Wolves could put them under the cosh from the outset, hence backing a home win in this one.
Wolves to win 2-1
—
Brighton ($2.25)
Tottenham ($3.10)
Draw ($3.70)
There is a real feel good factor around Tottenham at the moment, and they will be looking to keep that going at Brighton. The Seagulls did beat Manchester City last time out at home but rode their luck to do so and were well beaten at Bournemouth last weekend. Tottenham are going places under Thomas Frank and picked up good wins over West Ham and Villareal in the past few days. Brighton is never an easy place to go but Spurs could pick up a statement there this weekend.
Tottenham to win 2-1
—
Manchester United ($2.80)
Chelsea ($2.45)
Draw ($3.80)
Manchester United were humbled in the Manchester derby by Manchester City last time out and things don’t look to be getting any easier here, as they take on Chelsea. United have won just one of their opening 4 games and Ruben Amorim is a man under pressure already this season. Chelsea meanwhile threw away two points late on at Brentford last weekend and they will be desperate to make up for that here. United are there for the taking but Chelsea can lack a killer instinct, bringing the draw very much into to play.
1-1 Draw
—
Fulham ($2.05)
Brentford ($3.80)
Draw ($3.60)
A West London derby is one of the headline acts of the weekend, as Fulham take on Brentford. The Cottagers left it late to beat Leeds last weekend and should take heart from that result ahead of this one. Brentford were also in last gasp action, salvaging a point against Chelsea and the Bees are showing signs of being ready for the challenge ahead this term. This will be touch and go, between two good sides and a draw feels likely once more.
1-1 Draw
—
Bournemouth ($2.60)
Newcastle United ($2.80)
Draw ($3.60)
Bournemouth will be looking to build upon their impressive start to the season, as they welcome former manager Eddie Howe and his Newcastle side to town. The Cherries won well against Brighton last time out and have 9 points to their name from their opening 4 games played. Newcastle meanwhile got off the mark last weekend, with a tight win over Wolves and they will be looking to build upon that result here. These are two very good teams, and they could well end up cancelling each other out on the south coast.
0-0 Draw
—
Sunderland ($3.60)
Aston Villa ($2.10)
Draw ($3.50)
It has been a tough start to the season for Aston Villa, who find themselves in the relegation zone and things won’t get much easier, as they head up to take on Sunderland. The Black Cats have 7 points from their opening 4 games played, and they will be looking to keep adding to that tally, especially at home. Goals and points have eluded Aston Villa thus far and they will be looking to generate any sort of momentum in this one. Sunderland could come out and play, which is dangerous against Villa and the visitors could pinch the points here.
Aston Villa to win 2-1
—
Arsenal ($1.95)
Manchester City ($3.90)
Draw ($3.80)
Arsenal look most likely to challenge champions elect Liverpool this season and they will be eager to strike an important blow against Manchester City here. The Gunners have looked imperious so far this term, with their excellent defensive record testament to how far they could go in both the Premier League and the Champions League. City can struggle to break Arsenal down and with Napoli looming in the Champions League in midweek, they could find this one tough going. Arsenal will be bang up for this and could pick up a comfortable win.
Arsenal to win 3-0
