Arsenal not only took a significant step towards the Carabao Cup this week but also landed a potentially decisive blow in the Premier League title race too.
The Gunners are now six points clear of Manchester City, who limped to a draw with Spurs, while Aston Villa’s home troubles continued – this time with a loss to 10-man Brentford.
Manchester United and Liverpool are beginning to develop momentum, as are Chelsea under Liam Rosenior – who came from two goals down to beat West Ham.
Wolves and Burnley are now beginning to look cut adrift at the foot of the table, but West Ham, Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace all carry relegation concerns too.
Here are our Premier League tips for the next round of fixtures:
EPL Week 25 Predictions
—
Leeds United ($2.20)
Nottingham Forest ($3.40)
Draw ($3.40)
After being royally thumped by Arsenal last weekend, Leeds will be chasing a response in front of their home fans here against Nottingham Forest. The whites had looked to have turn a bit of a corner prior to last weekend’s result and they will be desperate to get back on track. For Forest, decent if not unremarkable results have been the key tag line from Sean Dyche’s reign but they know the importance of games like this. This will be feisty and cagey, with both sides sure to settle for a draw.
1-1 Draw
—
Manchester United ($1.67)
Tottenham ($4.80)
Draw ($4.50)
The Michael Carrick bandwagon is in full flow for Manchester United and they will be looking to pick off their next opponents here in Tottenham. Three wins in a row have United dreaming of dizzying heights again this season and who knows how far they can go with their former midfielder at the wheel. For Spurs, kicking on from their famous draw with Manchester City will be key and they will see this as a chance to build some momentum. That said, United are going very well at the moment and they should prevail here.
Manchester United to win 3-1
—
Fulham ($2.15)
Everton ($3.75)
Draw ($3.30)
Late goals had differing outcomes for both Fulham and Everton last weekend, with the Cottagers seeing a point slip away at Manchester United and Everton picking up a late point at Brighton. Both sides have had decent campaigns without setting the world alight and they will be hopeful of kicking on over the closing weeks of the campaign. Fulham at home are always a very dangerous side but Everton simply don’t give up, and this could be an entertaining draw.
1-1 Draw
—
Burnley ($3.40)
West Ham United ($2.20)
Draw ($3.50)
A hugely significant game in Burnley’s season lies in wait, as they welcome West Ham to Lancashire. The Clarets have really lost their way in recent times, with Monday’s 3-0 loss at Sunderland particularly uninspiring. West Ham were undone by a stirring Chelsea comeback but have been vastly improved in recent weeks and are chasing down Premier League safety with urgency. This is a big one for both sides and West Ham should pull through.
West Ham United to win 2-0
—
Bournemouth ($2.75)
Aston Villa ($2.50)
Draw ($3.50)
A couple of poor home results have put a spanner in Aston Villa’s title hopes and they will be desperate to get back on track here against Bournemouth. The Cherries won well at Wolves last weekend and remain one of the more enigmatic Premier League sides. For Villa, the situation is simple, they need to start winning games quickly if they are to have any hope of lifting the title and this is a big one for them. They tend to play their best stuff on the road, and they could outscore Bournemouth here.
Aston Villa to win 3-2
—
Wolves ($5.00)
Chelsea ($1.73)
Draw ($4.20)
It has been a long season for lowly Wolves and they will be in for another tough test here against in-form Chelsea. A tame home loss to Bournemouth summed up Wanderers’ campaign last time out and they are already adapting for life in the Championship it seems. Chelsea meanwhile are going along well under Liam Rosenior and although they crashed out of the Carabao Cup in midweek, they are enjoying a decent period. This should be all about Chelsea, who look well placed to win here.
Chelsea to win 3-1
—
Arsenal ($1.25)
Sunderland ($16.00)
Draw ($6.50)
With their place in the Carabao Cup final assured, Arsenal will be looking to kick on with their title bid here at home to Sunderland. The Gunners look to be the side to catch across all domestic competitions currently and they will be out to rattle into the Black Cats here. Sunderland’s dream season continues, with their 3-0 win over Burnley their latest scalp. This looks set to be one way traffic, with Arsenal sure to be on the front foot from the off and they should eventually break Sunderland down.
Arsenal to win 2-0
—
Newcastle United ($1.95)
Brentford ($3.90)
Draw ($3.80)
It has been a tough couple weeks for Newcastle, who were well beaten by Liverpool last time out and this will be another tricky one for them at home to Brentford. Toon are chasing a top four finish this season, but inconsistency has blighted their campaign, and they have found results hard to come by. Meanwhile, Brentford should be buoyed from their excellent win over Aston Villa last time out, which should give them plenty of confidence in this one. This could be tight, but Newcastle should just about get the job done at home.
Newcastle United to win 2-1
—
Brighton ($1.97)
Crystal Palace ($3.75)
Draw ($3.50)
One of the tastiest derbies in the Premier League is on the agenda here, as Brighton and Crystal Palace lock horns. The Seagulls cannot seem to buy a win at the moment, regardless of how they play in matches, and this feels like an important one for them. Crystal Palace meanwhile showed heart to pinch a point at Nottingham Forest last weekend and will be looking to unite between now and the end of the campaign. There should be no quarter given here and Brighton look well placed to come out on top.
Brighton to win 2-1
—
Liverpool ($2.37)
Manchester City ($2.90)
Draw ($3.80)
Champions Liverpool will be looking to build on some improved recent showings, as they take on Manchester City at Anfield. A big win over Newcastle last weekend should be a huge confidence booster for the reds and they always tend to bring their A-game to home contests with City. Pep Guardiola’s visitors are still struggling with inconsistency and their inability to kill off games makes them vulnerable. This should be a good one, with Liverpool surely too strong at home.
Liverpool to win 3-1
