Manchester United looked rejuvenated under Michael Carrick in their in over Manchester City, while Sunderland’s dream season continues.
Down at the bottom of the pile, all of the sides in the bottom three picked up points last weekend but Wolves, Burnley and West Ham all have a long road ahead in pursuit of Premier League safety.
Here are our Premier League tips for the next round of fixtures:
EPL Week 23 Predictions
—
West Ham United ($2.55)
Sunderland ($2.90)
Draw ($3.30)
It has been a tough few weeks for West Ham but their last gasp win over Tottenham last time out should give them cause for encouragement here against Sunderland. The Hammers have been lacking firepower and defensive stability, but they will be eager to build on that win in front of their home fans. Sunderland meanwhile continue to go from strength to strength this term and their latest win over Crystal Palace was a mightily impressive one. This feels very close on paper though and this could end up as a draw in East London.
1-1 Draw
—
Fulham ($2.50)
Brighton ($2.85)
Draw ($3.45)
Fulham and Brighton will be desperate to get back to winning ways, as they square off here in West London. The Cottagers are a team with plenty of potential, but results have been hard to come by of late, and they will be looking to utilise home advantage here. Brighton meanwhile dug deep to pick up a point against Bournemouth last time out, but they too have been struggling to put points on the board. This will be an interesting one, with the draw feeling like the percentage play.
1-1 Draw
—
Burnley ($3.80)
Tottenham ($2.05)
Draw ($3.50)
Burnley picked up a superb point at Liverpool last time out and they take on hapless Tottenham next at Turf Moor. The Clarets are plugging away in their relegation battle, without much joy but the home crowd should be bang up for this one here. Tottenham continue to struggle in the Premier League, which is in sharp contrast to their Champions League form, and they will be eager to showcase some fight here. This will be tight, but Spurs could sneak over the line.
Tottenham to win 2-1
—
Manchester City ($1.22)
Wolves ($16.00)
Draw ($9.50)
The wheels are seriously falling off for Manchester City, who take on Wolves in this must-win game. With defeats to Manchester United and Bodo/Glimt, City look to be struggling for form and confidence, and they will be vulnerable in this one. Wolves have absolutely nothing to lose and are beginning to put some results together under Rob Edwards, making them a real threat here. Obviously, City should win at home in this one, but Wolves are worth a punt at such long odds and with City in a spot of bother.
Wolves to win 2-1
—
Bournemouth ($3.90)
Liverpool ($1.91)
Draw ($4.00)
It has been a tough few weeks for Bournemouth, but they will be ready to have a good go here against champions Liverpool. The cherries have lost talisman Antoine Semenyo, but they remain a side packed with quality, and they can give anybody a game on their day. Liverpool meanwhile were limp in their home draw with Burnley, and they need to respond in the race for a top four finish. This one could be very entertaining, with Liverpool best placed to pick up the points.
Liverpool to win 3-2
—
Crystal Palace ($3.60)
Chelsea ($2.05)
Draw ($3.50)
Crystal Palace are another side in relative crisis, having lost captain Marc Guehi but they will need to bounce back here against Chelsea. Oliver Glasner has also signalled his intent to leave Palace at the end of the season, meaning the Eagles don’t look to have much to play for here. Chelsea by contrast are adapting to life under new manager Liam Rosenior and they will be bang up for this challenge in East London. This one could be open, which should suit Chelsea.
Chelsea to win 4-2
—
Newcastle United ($2.00)
Aston Villa ($3.75)
Draw ($3.75)
Two sides chasing points in the hope of playing European football next season meet here, as Newcastle United host Aston Villa. Toon have lacked a spark of late, but they tend to turn up in big games at home, and this should be a fixture for the Magpies fans to get on board with. Aston Villa meanwhile are a side going along very well under Unai Emery but last weekend’s loss to Everton will still be rankling with Villa and their fans. This could be tight and both sides may settle for a draw.
1-1 Draw
—
Brentford ($2.10)
Nottingham Forest ($3.75)
Draw ($3.60)
Brentford and Nottingham Forest meet in West London, as they both look to put distance between themselves and the relegation zone. The Bees are going along pretty well under Keith Andrews, with their home form being particularly pleasing this season. Forest meanwhile are plugging away under Sean Dyche, and they picked up a good point against Arsenal last weekend, but they can lack ambition in games such as this. As a result, Brentford look decent value for a home win.
Brentford to win 2-0
—
Arsenal ($1.70)
Manchester United ($5.40)
Draw ($4.00)
Champions-elect Arsenal will be looking to make a statement here, as they take on Michael Carrick’s Manchester United. The Gunners are going well in all competitions, but they can’t seem to stretch away from the sides below them in the title race. United meanwhile picked up a famous win over Manchester City last weekend and how they would love to build upon that here. This however feels like a forgone conclusion and Arsenal should triumph comfortably.
Arsenal to win 3-1
—
Everton ($2.45)
Leeds United ($3.30)
Draw ($3.50)
Everton will be looking to rectify their inconsistent home form, as they welcome Leeds to Merseyside. The Toffees won superbly at Aston Villa last weekend, but they cannot seem to buy results at home, something that will be of great concern to David Moyes. Meanwhile, Leeds are going along nicely under Daniel Farke, and they are working towards Premier League safety every week. This will be tight and both sides may settle for a hard fought point.
