We have expert betting tips for The Ashes 2nd Test at The Gabba, where Australia looks to take a 2-0 lead.
Money has come for Australia to take a commanding lead, and we backed them in the 1st test. However, there is good value for an upset in Queensland this week.
Our Ashes tips include 2nd test winner, top first innings runs scorer, and top first innings wicket taker.
The Ashes 2nd Test Tips & Predictions

Best Bet
The first test was one of the strangest Ashes tests in recent memory, and we don’t think there was much between them over the two days.
That’s why we’re going with England, who would love a better batting pitch, and they should get it at The Gabba. Conditions should be hard and fast, and although that has favoured Australia in the past, England plays a different style of cricket now.
Brendan McCollum’s “Bazball” comes with risk, but they could come out humming on the first day and take control of the test. Jofra Archer could tear through the opening order with his pace, and Harry Brook and Ben Stokes should play well with the bat.
Given the odds, it’s hard to overlook England. $2.90 is much better than what we expected in what should be a closely fought Ashes test match. Include England in your Ashes picks this week.

Top Australian Run Scorer 1st Innings
Travis Head didn’t play well in the first innings in Perth, but he fired back with a stunning 123 runs in the second innings.
That should give him plenty of confidence heading to The Gabba, and there is talk that he could open the batting. If he survives the early onslaught from the England quicks, he could rack up a big score, which is why he’s on the second line of betting.
Steve Smith is the $4.10 favourite, but there is better value with Head.

Top England Run Scorer 1st Innings
Expectations are high for Harry Brook, who had a mixed bag in Perth. He opened with 52 runs in the first innings before getting out for a duck.
His last four matches at all levels haven’t been great, but it wasn’t long ago when he scored 135 runs in an ODI win at Mount Maunganui in New Zealand. That showcased how talented he is, and with a test average of 56.31, he should get back to his best.
The stats are in favour of him making a good start, so he could lead England to a solid first innings lead.

Top Australia 1st Innings Wicket Taker
We backed Mitchell Starc in the first test and we weren’t disappointed. He took an incredible seven first innings wickets, and the money was never in doubt.
The Australian quick has enough experience to give England fits on Thursday and Friday, and that’s why he’s the shortening favourite to be Australia’s top wicket taker.
Pace should be the determining factor in Brisbane, and Starc has plenty of it. Include him in cricket multi bets at the current odds.

Top England 1st Innings Wicket Taker
Our prediction of pace being the best asset at The Gabba should hold true, and Jofra Archer has electric speed.
He’s the best bowling threat for England, and they need him to pick up early wickets before Australia settles in for a long innings.
We believe he’s good enough to 3-4 wickets in the opening innings, and he’ll be used primary at the start and end of the innings.
