New Zealand vs Pakistan @ SCG

New Zealand topped the Super 12 in their division with three wins from five games, but it was only decided by net run rate. The big loser was Australia, who missed out on the semifinals with a negative run rate.

However, the Black Caps will look to capitalise against Pakistan, who finished second behind India in the second division after also winning three games.

They qualified for their spot with a win over Bangladesh by five wickets. The 11-ball win wasn’t their best batting performance after scoring 128-5, but the bowling attack was in fine display, holding Bangladesh to 127 runs from 20 overs.

The Black Caps got into the finals with a comfortable win over Ireland but the hard yards were done by beating Sri Lanka earlier in the tournament.

Bookmakers have New Zealand at $1.82 and Pakistan at $2.02. We don’t expect there to be much between them and it could come down to the last over. However, we’re taking New Zealand to get the job done.

India vs England @ Adelaide Oval

India did the job against Zimbabwe after putting 186 runs on the board and they have been the best team throughout the group stages.

With four wins from five games, India has done enough to secure favouritism at $1.83 against England, who have a team good enough to win the Cricket World Cup.

England scored a four-wicket win against Sri Lanka, and although it wasn’t the best performance of the year, it did enough to win and secure a semifinal spot.

If Alex Hales gets firing from the outset, England could be tough to run down, should it be batting first. It’s key for England to get off to a fast start with either the bat or ball, as India has a deep lineup and it’s never out of the contest.

Playing in Adelaide bodes well for England, who prefer the ball to come onto them. India would have loved wetter conditions where the ball is heavier, but with sun forecast for Thursday, the conditions should suit England.

We’re going with England to win based on the conditions and their early batting lineup. If Jos Buttler, Hales and Dawid Malan can build a strong partnership, India would have to play well to limit them to under 180 runs.

Money is likely to come for England, which could firm into favouritism on game day. Therefore, taking the $2.01 for England is the right play.
