The Big Bash League (BBL) continues this week and we have expert betting tips and picks for every game throughout the summer.

It’s time for the semifinals, kicking off with the Hurricanes vs Sixers on Tuesday and Thunder vs Stars on Wednesday.

7:30pm Hobart Hurricanes vs Sydney Sixers @ Ninja Stadium

The Hurricanes are $1.74 favourites to get straight into the Big Bash Final on Monday, and based on their recent form, they are tough to bet against.

The Hurricanes might have been beaten by the Melbourne Stars in their most recent game, but it wasn’t an overly important outing, and they still scored 179 runs in defeat. It should tell them what they need to improve on to beat the Sixers.

Sydney had a no result game against the Thunder, so they’ll be fresh. However, that could work against them. They would have loved to have played a full game against the Thunder, who were 36/1 after 5.1 overs at the time the game was cancelled.

Making it harder for Sydney is playing on the road. Hobart is always tough to beat at home, so we’re backing the Hurricanes to get straight through to the final.

Punters also get value odds for Ben McDermott to top score for the Hurricanes. He has been playing well, so the $4.50 is too good to overlook. We are also backing Josh Phillppe to top score for the Sixers. He’s one of the more consistent batters in the Big Bash, and his experience will be vital for the road team on Tuesday.

7:30pm Sydney Thunder vs Melbourne Stars @ Sydney Showground

It’s hard to stop the winning momentum of the Melbourne Stars, who started the season in terrible form, but they have rattled off a significant winning streak to make the playoffs.

It’s enough to see bookmakers list them as $1.72 favourites on the road against the Thunder, and we’re happy to keep backing the Stars to win.

Beating Sydney won’t be easy, as the Thunder have been playing well enough. They had a washed-out game against the Sixers but prior to that they defeated the Perth Scorchers, effectively keeping the defending champions out of the playoffs.

They scored 158 runs and limited Perth to 97, so it was a fine bowling effort, and the Stars will need to contend with that on Wednesday. However, given the momentum and ability of the Stars, we can’t turn down the current BBL odds.

Glenn Maxwell is the $3.50 favourite to top score for the Stars, and those odds are juicy. He has experience at the top level of T20 cricket, and he has led the Stars to this position. We think he’ll lead by example and put up a big score in the semifinal.

David Warner is favourite to be the Thunders’ top scorer, but we’re backing Sam Billings. He’s good enough to set the game alight, and punters get $4.20.
