If Essendon can’t cover a –15.5 spread against Richmond, there isn’t much hope for them in 2025.

We have been both impressed and disappointed with some of their results this year, and although the Bombers are only a young side dealing with injuries, they should still be good enough to put up a big number on the struggling Tigers.

Richmond scored only 106 points over their last two games, and they were outscored 246-106. That’s not a good look, but it’s good news for Essendon backers, who are looking to get back in the win column after a run of losses.

There isn’t a better time to jump on Essendon to cover a spread, and we would be surprised if they didn’t score a convincing win.

Richmond’s Sam Banks could be kept busy, so take the $1.42 odds for 20+ disposals. He had 25 disposals following by 26 last week, so he’s doing a good job at the back for the Tigers.

Under 163.5 is also included in our multi. With Richmond struggling to score points, we can’t see it being a high-scoring contest.

We can’t see Richmond being in the hunt at any stage on Saturday, so take the $2.12 odds for Essendon to win wire-to-wire.

We would have been happy with anything above $2, so getting a slightly better price is good value. It requires Essendon to start well, but with confidence levels with Richmond all but non-existent, it shouldn’t be hard to take a first quarter lead.
