Big bets have come for Fremantle to cover the –29.5 spread, and based on Essendon’s performance last week, it’s not hard to see why. The Bombers performance against Geelong was nothing short of miserable, and although this young team might need time, we have given them more than enough chances in 2025.

The Dockers come off four consecutive wins, including a tough win over North Melbourne last week, and that should hold them in good stead. They also defeated the SUNS, Port Adelaide, and GWS during the winning run, so they’re playing with confidence.

With Essendon losing four of its last five, we’re prepared to leave them out of our selections this time around.

Shai Bolton isn’t having the most consistent year in the goal scoring department, but we expect him to score 2+ goals on Thursday. He had three goals against Gold Coast before adding another goal against the Kangaroos.

He’s a $1.89 chance to score at least two goals, which is a good price with AFL odds. It’s slightly lower than what Peter Wright is paying for Essendon. He’s a $2 chance to score 2+ goals, and although Essendon isn’t expected to kick many, he’s their leading contender.

He has nine goals from his last four games, so we’re happy to include him in our picks at the even-money price.

We also expect a higher scoring game than what AFL odds suggest. The 153.5 line is low, and it could be a 95-60 scoreline, and they should open up on offence and look to force the issue.

Luke Ryan had a 30-disposal game earlier this year, so he’s good enough to put up big numbers against Essendon.

He is a $4.00 chance to have a 25+ disposal game, and although he hasn’t had 25 in his last four games, he went close against Port Adelaide when posting 22.

The odds are worth taking in what could be a busy game for Ryan.
