The AFL continues this week for Round 24 action, kicking off with Essendon vs. Carlton on Thursday night, and it’s all to play for in the final round of the regular season.
We have AFL betting tips for every game in 2025, including this week’s featured games between Collingwood vs. Melbourne, Western Bulldogs vs. Fremantle, and Brisbane vs. Hawthorn.

Thursday 21/8/25
Essendon pushed St Kilda close last week, but we can’t see the same result happening against Carlton, despite both teams being out of finals contention.
This game is all about attitude, but despite the Bombers playing tough last week, repeating that week-to-week has been their biggest issue.
It’s a tough game to start the week, but we have more faith in the Blues.

In need of a big performance is Collingwood, which looks to hold off multiple teams for a top four spot.
It’s win at all costs for the Magpies, who face a sticky Melbourne outfit that is looking to cause an upset to close out the year. However, we’re happy to go with the class team.
All things being equal, Collingwood should put Melbourne to the sword and cover the –19.5 spread.

Pressure is on Gold Coast to come up with the goods before the Western Bulldogs play, and that should translate into an easy win.
Port Adelaide hasn’t played well in 2025, and although the Power would love to play spoiler and deny Gold Coast a finals spot, we can’t see it happening this week.
The SUNS have two games to make a push for the finals, with a game against Essendon happening next week, but they’d love to handle the Power with ease first.

Saturday 23/8/25
There is a distinct class advantage with Adelaide, which is the firm –40.5 favourite to win, and it should get the job done nicely.
It’s no surprise to us to see the Crows at the top of the table, and it would be good to see them win the minor premiership. A win is all they need to wrap it up and take the top seed into the playoffs, and it should come comfortably.
Take Adelaide to cover the –40.5 spread against North Melbourne, which shouldn’t fancy its chances of winning two on the bounce.

Punters are faced with another big betting line in Round 24, and we’re backing the favourites to get it done.
The Cats are hoping for a top two spot, which could come under threat if they lose, but that’s not going to happen against a team as bad as Richmond. The Tigers have struggled, and only the Eagles have been worse.
It’s a big line to cover, but the Cats’ offence should be far too explosive.

Only pride is on the line this Saturday for West Coast and Sydney, and it’s hard to know which team will be more disappointed.
Sydney couldn’t back up last year’s AFL Grand Final appearance with a good season, which was sad to see, but the Eagles have been as close to awful as possible, and there is no hope in sight for the near future.
West Coast has only one win on its record, which is hard to fathom, so take Sydney to win and cover the spread.

Sunday 24/8/25
It could pay to follow the favourites this week, and punters get a generous line with GWS at –28.5.
We expect the Giants to score an easy win over St Kilda, who is once again looking to rebuild for next year after missing the playoffs.
Covering the line shouldn’t be too hard for GWS, which boasts some of the best goal scorers in the AFL.

It would be a shame not to see the Bulldogs in the finals, and a win over the Dockers is needed at all costs.
They will come under pressure from Gold Coast, but a win would be enough to see them leapfrog the Dockers, which would put them under pressure.
It’s the most important game of the week, and we’re backing the Bulldogs –21.5 in our AFL picks this week.
Western Bulldogs by 27

We’re happy to take the underdog value for Hawthorn, which isn’t the most consistent type, but it’s good on its day.
The Hawks can beat teams like Brisbane, and although bookmakers have them as underdogs on the road, that’s hardly surprising. However, a top four spot is up for grabs, and they could play their best footy approaching the finals.
Getting $2.41 is enough to pique our interest.

Wednesday 27/8/25
We are picking Gold Coast to win both games this week, and a different fate could be in store for Essendon.
It has been another long year for Bombers’ backers, and they should struggle to stay intact with the SUNS, who are desperate for wins in Round 24.
The line is big, but it should be a one-sided game.
