gobet afl round 22 tips

The AFL continues this week for Round 22 action, kicking off with Hawthorn vs. Collingwood on Thursday night.

We have AFL betting tips for every game in 2025, including this week’s featured games between Brisbane vs. Sydney and Melbourne vs. Western Bulldogs.

AFL Round 22 Tips

Thursday 7/8/25

7:30pm Hawthorn vs. Collingwood @ MCG

Betting Tip: Hawthorn @ $2.30

Hawthorn had a good chance to beat Adelaide last week after posting a big first quarter lead, but its inconsistency let it down in the second and fourth quarters.

However, the Hawks get a good chance to bounce back in an important game against Collingwood, which didn’t fire a shot against Brisbane last week.

Given the odds, we’re backing the Hawks to get it done.

Friday 8/8/25

7:40pm Geelong vs. Essendon @ GMHBA Stadium

Betting Tip: Geelong –66.5 @ $1.90

Geelong is getting used to posting big scoring totals, as it did last week, and the Bombers are there to be well-beaten.

Essendon kept it competitive last week, but it was another loss for the struggling team, and Geelong should jump on them early and post another one-sided win.

Covering a –66.5 line isn’t easy, but if there is one team capable of covering it, it’s the Cats.

Saturday 9/8/25

1:20pm Richmond vs. St Kilda @ MCG

Betting Tip: Richmond +22.5 @ $1.90

St Kilda is playing solid footy, but the Tigers are good enough to keep this game close at the MCG.

It hasn’t been a vintage year for the Tigers, who are 16th on the AFL ladder, but they’re playing better than some other teams, namely Essendon, West Coast, and North Melbourne.

Getting a +22.5 start is ideal, so take the underdog to keep it close.

4:15pm Brisbane vs. Sydney @ Gabba

Betting Tip: Brisbane –26.5 @ $1.90

We got value odds for Brisbane to bounce back against Collingwood last week and the Lions didn’t let us down.

Another win is likely against Sydney, and with the minor premiership still within their grasp, Brisbane should look to finish the year strongly.

Money has come for the –26.5 line, so include it in AFL picks.

Brisbane by 31

7:35pm Carlton vs. Gold Coast @ Marvel Stadium

Betting Tip: Gold Coast –27.5 @ $1.90

Gold Coast is a hot team approaching the finals, and we can’t see Carlton standing in their way on Saturday night.

The Blues looked set for an upset against Fremantle on Sunday before capitulating in the second half, and that loss might have taken a lot out of them.

Given their scoring prowess, Gold Coast should win and cover the spread with ease.

Gold Coast by 40

8:10pm Port Adelaide vs. Fremantle @ Adelaide Oval

Betting Tip: Fremantle –24.5 @ $1.90

The Dockers have a full head of steam entering the finals after a good comeback win over Carlton last week.

Their senior players stood up in the second half and took over, and with Port Adelaide suffering a bad loss to Geelong, it’s struggling with confidence.

Covering a –24.5 line shouldn’t be too hard if Fremantle turns up for the entire game.

Fremantle by 32

Sunday 10/8/25

1:40pm GWS vs. North Melbourne @ Manuka Oval

Betting Tip: GWS –45.5 @ $1.90

Pressure is on the Giants to hold off the challengers for the eighth spot on the AFL ladder, but facing North Melbourne helps their cause.

They have the class edge over the Kangaroos, who are having another rough year, and we can’t see them keeping it close.

The Giants are set for a one-sided win, so covering the –45.5 line shouldn’t be too difficult.

GWS by 56

3:15pm Melbourne vs. Western Bulldogs @ MCG

Betting Tip: Western Bulldogs –22.5 @ $1.90

The Western Bulldogs are one of the more dangerous teams in the AFL, and when they’re firing, they’re good enough to win the comp.

We predict them to be tough to beat against Melbourne, who are on the outside looking in, and the offseason preparations and well under way.

We can’t back Melbourne in this situation, so take the Bulldogs to score a one-sided win.

Western Bulldogs by 33

5:10pm West Coast vs. Adelaide @ Optus Stadium

Betting Tip: Adelaide -59.5 @ $1.90

Adelaide faced a big first-quarter deficit against Hawthorn last week, but it mattered for nothing. The Crows bounced back and put the Hawks to the sword, and they should destroy the West Coast Eagles this week.

Covering a –59.5 line won’t be easy, but the final score should be around 120-50, in what should be an easy victory for the home side.

The minor premiership is within their grasp, so expect the best from Adelaide on Sunday.
