It was hard not to be impressed with Brisbane’s win over Hawthorn two weeks ago, and although they weren’t as impressive last week against Essendon, they did enough to secure the victory.

It got very tight in the second half after leading by a big margin early, but a win is a win, and now they focus on a much harder opponent in Adelaide. The Crows have won four of their last five games, but their only tough game was a loss to Collingwood.

We don’t think Adelaide should be –8.5 favourites. It plays the defending champions coming off two wins, and there is excellent value with the Lions.

The over 160.5 points line is much better than we expected. Adelaide and Brisbane typically embark on a high-scoring contest, having scored 191 points in their first meeting of 2025, and that followed 183 points in their 2024 meeting.

We’re not sure why the line is so low, and although they are good defensive teams, they love to get out and run when they meet.

We have followed Eric Hipwood and Riley Thilthorpe with success. Hipwood has only one goal from his last two games, but the Lions forward looked much better prior to that. He should get more opportunities to score in an offense-minded game.

Thilthorpe has four goals from his last two games, so he’s usually good for 2+ goals. Money has come for him to score twice, and he’s worth including in AFL same game multi predictions.

Brisbane lost to Adelaide at home narrowly earlier this year, and it should be hell bent on getting revenge.

The Lions have improved since that loss, and last year’s AFL champions have started to hit their straps. Playing on the road isn’t easy, but they are a team that can dominate from the outset. Therefore, getting $4.20 for a wire-to-wire victory is ideal.
